Abstract Art for Home, Office or Corporate Setting, by
John Grady Williams
| Green Ice |

|
| SOLD! Harmony of Texture 2008 |
“Green Ice” was the first painting I had ever sold, and I sold it during my very first-ever public display,
at the Reston Community Center in 2008. It was a great moment for me. My only regret is, at the time, I did not fully understand
the importance of properly photographing my work for documentation. This fact is evident in a number of the early paintings,
which are now sold and now too late to correct.
| Downpour |

|
| SOLD! Harmony of Texture 2008 |
I removed my work from the community center on a Monday morning; excited, having sold a painting. This
would have been more than enough for me as a new artist, but when I returned home and checked my email, I learned I had someone
interested in “Downpour”. By the end of the day I had delivered the painting to Charles Town, West Virginia.
| Jungle Fire |

|
| SOLD! Harmony of Texture 2008 |
On the same Monday I sold “Downpour”, I received a phone call from the wife of a man
interested in one of my pieces. She wanted to surprise him on his birthday by purchasing his favorite, “Downpour”.
Oh No! I had all ready sold “Downpour”, but the following Sunday she brought her husband to my studio and they
left with “Jungle Fire” and “Fragment 2” (below). I ultimately sold four paintings as a result of
my first public show!

| Wildfire |

|
| SOLD! AWP Q2 2009 Pinnacle |
After my first show in Reston, I became an artist member of the Arts Council of Fairfax County. They had a program,
which matched artist with local corporations, to display art in the workplace. Soon I had a show at the Cox Communication
building in nearby Herndon Virginia, and about a year later at the Pinnacle building in Tyson’s Corner Virginia. This
location turned out to be the perfect match of artist and audience. First to go was “Wildfire”. The buyer wanted
this painting as “a special gift” for someone important in his life.
| Am Flag ver. 3 |

|
| SOLD! AWP Q2 2009 Pinnacle |
Next to go was “Am Flag ver.3”. This painting ended up in a “man cave” in Haymarket Virginia.
| Muted Tangle |

|
| SOLD! AWP Q2 2009 Pinnacle |
Finally, I ended up delivering “Muted Tangle” to a home in Reston Virginia. When we place this painting
at the intended wall for display, we both instantly knew it was a perfect match of color and location.

| Decagonal Pennon |

|
| Traded! 7/31/2010 |
Not technically a sale, I traded “Decagonal Pennon” for a painting by a fellow Corcoran classmate, Gilles
Collette. For details, see “The Trade”, on the blog page.

| Autumn Mash |

|
| SOLD! AWP Q2 2010 WTP |
Okay, I only accepted a dollar for this painting, but a sale is a sale. “Autumn Mash” went to my friend
at the Arts Council of Fairfax County, the man solely responsible for organizing the AWP shows. The program had been canceled
and I wanted to give him a gift of appreciation. It was no surprise to me he picked this one. He’d been admiring
it for months. My first show at the Washington Technology Park was my last with the Arts Council of Fairfax County's
Art in the Workplace (AWP) program.

| Half Schema |

|
| SOLD! WTP II, Fall of 2010 |
The day I gave my friend “Autumn Mash”, he said he would one day purchase a painting for his son, when
his son got his own place to live. “Half Schema” became the house-warming gift.
